Current Studio

My current studio is now giving me the chance to focus on retail design. I never thought about it before, but I might like it. It gives me a lot more opportunity to use my graphic design knowledge.. Branding and the like. Hopefully I’m better at this then the last studio where we had to design and optomitrist’s office.

I feel lost in school sometimes. I feel like everyone in my class has these huge dreams of being the next big interior design star. And I don’t. I think that’s maybe because I know what the real world is like and, while it’s nice to dream big, I know what reality will be.

Most likely I’ll end up in a construction company that does custom designs of some sort. It will give me the opportunity, hopefully, to get my hands dirty instead of playing with fabric choices or dreaming up big huge designs that aren’t actually ever going to be used because most people have a budget.

However, this retail design doing a department store might make me hate acadamia life a little less. Especially doing more research on it now. I’m liking it I believe. But it may also be because I tend to have expensive taste…
